Captain Sheldon Epstein is currently the Operations Commander of the Bluffton Police Department and second in command of the department who oversees the day-to-day operations.
Captain Epstein came to the Bluffton Police Department in 2013 after retiring from the Pennsylvania State Police where he served 39 years. Since coming to the Bluffton Police Department, Captain Epstein has served as a Patrolman, Quartermaster and Automotive Fleet Manager, Commander of the Support Division, and Commander of the Investigations Division.
Captain Epstein began his law enforcement career in 1979 with the Connellsville Police Department. He was hired by the Pennsylvania State Police in 1981 where he was assigned as a Section Commander, Station Commander and Commanding Officer overseeing 364 sworn and non-sworn personnel. Captain Epstein graduated with a B.A. with honors in English and German from Carnegie-Mellon University. He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy 207th session.
